In my new show for London Fields Radio, recording from Wiltons Way cafe in the centre of Hackney, I combine my two interests, design and bass music. Expect interviews with DJs, promoters, designers, illustrators, photographers and producers from within the UK and Dutch bass scenes, as well as juicy cuts of fresh bass music, fuelled by a hefty dose of hot coffee!
This week's show features an interview with Ashes57. She is an illustrator and a street photographer of French origin. Surrounded by the city’s large music and artistic community, she was able to focus on creative projects and developed her unique line drawing style and vector graphics. She works with groundbreaking labels and club nights such as Swamp 81, Dubwar NYC, Deep Medi and Hyperdub.
This week’s show includes an interview with Alex Johnson, better know as Vector Meldrew. He is an award winning director-designer based in London. His background lies in the music industry, touring internationally as a VJ for Headhunter and creating artwork and music videos for Tectonic, Apple Pips/Ramadanman and 2562. During the interview we talk about this and also about his work for Adidas, RWD Mag and the upcoming DECA10 exhibition this Saturday.
This week a meet up with Dutch designer, illustrator and DJ Karimo, who is part of the creative collective Vage Gasten. In his old manor at one of the canals in the center of buzzing Amsterdam we had a talk about his work for well-known producers such as 16Bit, Eprom, Lorn, Swindle, Desto and music label Rwina Records. Recently he started to collaborate with BDID as Mr. Tit creating the videoclip for Swindle’s Moodswings track.
